South Korea – Vietnam promotes tourism
A conference on the introduction of tourism of Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province was organized in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of leading travel companies in South Korea and Vietnam.

Attending at the event were Mayor of Daegu Kwon Young Jin, leaders of Gyeongbuk Province, representatives of the Korea Tourism Organization, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism and the municipal Tourism Promotion Center.
The meeting introduced to Vietnamese visitors popular tourists attractions in Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province, and tourism policies to attract more visitors from Vietnam. Daegu City and Gyeongbuk Province are also among most attractive destinations for medical tourism in South Korea.
South Korea’s tourism organization show that Vietnam is one of the nation’s key tourism markets in 2017 with the highest growth rate. An estimated 272,564 Vietnamese visited South Korea in the first ten months of this year, a 29.7 percent year-on-year rise.
Meanwhile, in the 2016, Vietnam welcomed 10 million foreign visitors, up 26% against 2015, gaining US$18 billion and contributing 6.8% to the GDP. Accordingly, in the first eight months of 2017, more than eight million foreigners visited Vietnam, a year-on-year increase of 29.7%. The country now has 1,700 travel agencies and 21,000 hotels with 420,000 rooms.
With the above figure, South Korea has emerged as the second source market of Vietnam. The information was released at the ASEAN - Korea Tourism Capacity Building Workshop organized in Hoi An in the central province of Quang Nam on September 15.
According to Deputy Director General of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ngo Hoai Chung, Vietnam has actively joined tourism events, fairs and road shows in South Korea as part of the efforts to boost tourism attraction to Vietnam.
