Films on the Korean land and people are screened free of charge at the Quang Nam culture centre in Tam Ky city between 4 pm and 9 pm. The South Korean film including All About My Wife (2012). With 594,195 tickets sold during the opening weekend of 2012 May 18 to 20, All About My Wife's debut made a splash atop the local box office, putting up a strong fight against Hollywood films The Avengers and Men in Black 3. Benefiting from positive word-of-mouth, it continued its impressive commercial run, with over 4.5 million admissions in total.
Especially is Hope - the film is based on a true story, the infamous Nayoung Case in 2008, in which an 8-year-old girl, called "Na-young" in the Korean press, was raped and beaten by a drunk 57-year-old man in a public toilet. The court sentenced the man to only 12 years in prison, which caused outrage in the country due to the brutality of the crime and the man's history of physical and sexual violence.
According to Pham Hong Quang, Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications, the event marks 25 years of Vietnam – South Korea diplomatic ties (December 12, 1992 - 2017) as well as the ASEAN – South Korea cultural exchange year 2017.
It will help increase mutual understanding and cooperation between Quang Nam and South Korea localities across diplomacy, culture, economy, tourism, and education, he added.
Alongside the festival, there will be meetings to honour South Korea organisations and individuals who have made contributions to Quang Nam, an exchange between Vietnamese and South Korea students, and art performances by Vietnamese and Korean artists.
