SEA Games 31 closing ceremony: the warmest and dearest farewell from Vietnam

A safe and impressive tournament gathers more than 10,000 athletes, referees, and officials from Southeast Asia.

SEA Games 31 officially came to a close at the My Dinh Indoor Athletics Arena in Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi on May 23.

Participants in the ceremony are Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, Hanoi Mayor Chu Ngoc Anh and the Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, H.E Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, among others.

  1. While the opening ceremony featured mass performances and spectacular visual effects, the closing is a more cozy and friendly kind of event, with the motto “Gather to shine”.
 Vietnamese singers perform a medley of songs about Hanoi with the performances of 100 dancers, kicking off the closing ceremony of the 31st SEA Games. 
On the stage is a parade of cyclos while in the background are the images of the Temple of Literature, Long Bien Bridge, and One-Pillar Pagoda, which are the symbols of the capital city.
Forty Saola mascots parade with 40 billboards representing the number of sports at SEA Games 31.
  1. Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung, and Hanoi Mayor Chu Ngoc Anh present awards to the best athletes who won from three to six gold medals at SEA Games 31, including Vietnamese track and field athlete Nguyen Thi Oanh; Thai athlete Joshua Robert Atkinson; Swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang from Vietnam and swimmer Jing Wen Quah from Singapore. 
  1. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh delivered the closing speech of the Southeast Asian Games.
The flag-lowering ceremony of the 31st SEA Game took place solemnly. 
  1. The 32nd SEA Games will take place in Cambodia in 2023, the representative of Vietnam hands over the SEA Games flag to the Minister of Tourism, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Thong Khon, and the Secretary-General of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia Vath Chamroeun. 
White Rabbit will be the mascot of the 32nd SEA Games.
The art performances of artists from Cambodia, the host country SEA Games 32, feature diverse repertoires including “Bangkauk Snaeng” or Blowing of Single Free-Reed Animal Horn, Dance, and music titled “Rose of Phnom Penh”, among others.

The 31st SEA Games in Vietnam closes with melodies of traditional quan ho folk songs, bidding cordial farewells to international friends and athletes.
Vietnamese artists perform the 'gia ban' - a folk song to farewell participants to the closing ceremony or SEA Games 31.
So, the biggest sports event in Southeast Asia has officially ended after 10 days of exciting competitions. See you in Cambodia!
