Russian firms seek cooperation opportunities in Vietnam
The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) ) in collaboration with the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Hanoi held a Vietnam-Russia Business Forum in Hanoi on September 29.
General Secretary of the VCCI Pham Thi Thu Hang said the forum is a good chance for Vietnamese and Russian enterprises to share information and seek investment cooperation opportunities.
Members of the Russian business delegation includes firms operating in urban construction design, infrastructure, transport, construction materials and medical equipment industries.
General Secretary Hang highlighted Vietnam as an attractive market for Russian investors, especially in the fields of new energy, renewal energy, industry, hi-tech, manufacturing, engineering and petrochemicals.
Vietnam and Russia have established a long- traditional relationship and close cooperation in various fields, she affirmed.
VCCI Secretary General Pham Thi Thu Hang said that at present, Vietnam has been the only strategic partner of Russia in the Asia - Pacific. Economic cooperation between the two countries has been strenghthened in four key areas - trade, investment, oil and gas and power energy as a results of underway cooperation projects over recent years.
Total trade volume has increased from 500 million USD in 2001 to nearly 3 billion USD in 2014.
The two nations pledged to continue to encourage and create favourable conditions for their enterprises to invest in each other's territory.
Vietnam is willing to create favourable conditions for Russian enterprises and other partners to do business in the country, she affirmed.
Speaking at the event, Head of the Russian business delegation Strozhaeva Lubov Viktorovna stated that her country’s firms are willing to cooperate and establish joint ventures with Vietnamese partners.
Along with political, trade-economic, investment ties, FTAs will create favourable conditions for both sides to strengthen cooperation in many other fields such as education - training, scientific - technical and cultural, she added.
