To people’s safety in the extremely disadvantaged mountainous regions, the People’s Committee of the central province of Quang Nam has asked the transport sector to work with localities and relevant agencies to give priority to repairing all the temporary suspension bridges that lead to schools and medical stations before the wet season.
According to the provincial People’s Committee, the province will complete the building of and put into operation, 14 suspension bridges totaling 1,200 meters, before the wet season and potential flooding begins.

In addition, the province has also allocated over VND10 billion to repair and upgrade all inadequate suspension bridges to ensure the safety for people and vehicles using the crossings.

There are 136 suspension bridges across 9 mountainous, highland and border districts of the province. However, 119 of them are either temporary or seriously damaged and in need of urgent repair.

For a long-term period, Quang Nam province will call on investment to replace temporary suspension bridges with firm ferro-concrete ones.
