Under Directive 01/CT-TTg, the Government leader requested the People’s Committees of border and coastal cities and provinces to coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee , the Ministry of National Defence (MoND ) and the Ministry of Public Security (MoPS) to organise the movement among strata of people.
He also called on each household and individual to voluntarily engage in the protection of the territorial sovereignty and ensuring security and order in border areas.
The MoND was urged to direct the Border Guard , the Coast Guard , and the Navy to join the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in facilitating offshore fishing and offering rescue services in order to defend the national sea and island sovereignty.
The Ministry of Information and Communications will work with the MoND and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make regular and long-term plans to raise public awareness of the national land and sea sovereignty via mass media at home and abroad.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education and Training will collaborate with the MoND and the MoPS to include the issue of national territorial sovereignty protection in curricula at all-level schools.
Over the past year, various self-management models established at grass-root levels have proven effective, contributing to maintaining the national security and social order in border areas .
The country currently has more than 3,500 borderline and marker management groups, nearly 2,000 groups to ensure safety for vessels, among others.
