At present, the annual glass production capacity of domestic factories is estimated at 3,480 tonnes per day, equivalent to 243 million sq.m per year, of which float glass production is 2,950 tonnes per day or 206 million sq.m per year (six factories), while flat glass is 530 tonnes per day or 37 million sq.m per year (two factories). Most of these factories are located in areas abundant in raw materials and developed technical infrastructure and are distributed across all three regions of the country: the North, the Central, and the South.
In addition, the Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province to assume prime responsibility and co-ordinate with the Ministry of Construction in deciding the project’s investment policy and guide related enterprises in project implementation pursuant to laws and regulations. Additionally, it will need to direct and supervise the project implementation process, ensuring that the products are of the right kind and meet environmental standards and technical regulations.
Investors shall carry out construction investment and procedures according to current regulations, ensuring that project implementation shall be on schedule. The Prime Minister has assigned the Ministry of Construction to review the master plan for the development of construction materials in Vietnam up to 2020 and the overall direction to 2030. This document includes the production planning of glass types to meet domestic and export demand with the goal of improving resource usage efficiency based on modern and advanced processing technology and ensuring product quality.
