A cultural strategy for Vietnam`s foreign relations until 2020 with a vision for 2030 has been approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

The strategy underscores the need to intensify proactive international integration in the cultural field to promote the cultural values of Vietnam to the world based on the quintessence of human culture in order to comprehensively develop the Vietnamese  culture thus elevating the nation’s international profile and ensuring sustainable development and national protection.

The key task until 2020 is to develop external cultural models and activities in a diverse and effective manner to highlight the Vietnamese culture through traditional cultural activities such as culture days, Vietnam culture week, culture and tourism promotion festivals abroad, film festivals and international cultural and artistic events.

Additionally, the focus is on building a national cultural icon and a number of national brand of cultural products, exporting cultural products and services and creating the market share for the Vietnamese cultural industry in the international market.

Another task is to create favorable conditions for countries, international organizations and foreign cultural and travel agencies to introduce the country, people, culture and tourism of Vietnam and launch cultural weeks and largest cultural events of different countries in Vietnam.

In the period up to 2020, priority will be given to these tasks to be carried out in the countries that have maintained time-honoured relations and geographical proximity with Vietnam like China, Laos, Cambodia and ASEAN countries.

The country will expand cultural activities with strategic partners in the Asia – Pacific region, Europe and North America as well as in South America and the Middle East and Africa.

In the period from 2030, Vietnam will continue to bolster activities in the foresaid regions and in areas having a long geographical distance.

The strategy also underlined the importance of pushing up the development of the Vietnamese cultural industry in major cities to transform them into centres of creative economy in Asia.
