The US Mission to Vietnam has announced 33 Vietnamese for the 2023 Fulbright Scholar Program, including 19 recipients from the Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program, seven from the Visiting Scholar Program, two from the US-ASEAN Visiting Scholar Program, and five from the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program.
“We are thrilled to have such outstanding scholars as recipients of the 2023 Fulbright scholarship program,” said Cameron Thomas-Shah, US Embassy Spokesperson and Acting Counselor for Public Affairs at the Fulbright Pre-Departure Orientation to prepare scholars for their departure to the US.
“Their exceptional talent will undoubtedly contribute to Vietnam’s development and further deepen the strong ties between our two nations, especially as we celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Comprehensive Partnership this year,” Cameron Thomas-Shah stressed.
These 33 Vietnamese Fulbrighters embody the spirit of international cooperation, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding and will enhance people-to-people ties between the US and Vietnam, he underlined.

Established in 1946 and funded by the US Government, the Fulbright Program is the flagship international academic exchange program and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the US and other countries through academic and cultural exchange.
The Fulbright Program in Vietnam, launched in 1992, has awarded more than 1,600 Vietnamese and US students through 16 different exchange programs. The Fulbright Vietnamese Student Program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program that recruits and nominates young Vietnamese professionals to pursue master's degrees at US universities.
For over 30 years, Fulbright Vietnam has offered Vietnamese and Americans of all backgrounds and fields the opportunity to foster mutual understanding, share knowledge, and improve lives in a changing and complex world through unique international and cultural exchange programs.
Almost 650 Vietnamese students have gained master’s degrees while studying in the United States, more than 150 Vietnamese scholars have lectured or conducted research at US colleges and universities, and nearly 40 language instructors have taught Vietnamese in US classrooms.
