Opening the 14th Hoi An-Japan cultural exchange
The People`s Committee of Hoi An city and Embassy of Japan in Vietnam jointly held the 14th annual Hoi An - Japan Cultural Festival from August 15-16 in the central province of Quang Nam.
Thousands of locals and visitors flocked to the ancient town of Hoi An to celebrate the annual Hoi An - Japan Cultural Festival on August 15.
The cultural event aims to strengthen the strong relationship between Hoi An town in particular and Vietnam in general with Japan.
The event is the biggest rendezvous for the Japanese community living in Hoi An and the central region, and a chance for local residents and tourists to experience Japanese culture.
Speaking at the event, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Fukada Hiroshi praised the relationship between the two countries, emphasising that Hoi An city is a typical symbol of the long time relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
The Vietnam - Japan relationship is developing stronger, the diplomat added.
Ambassador Fukada Hiroshi also said the traditional Japanese culture including Kimono, Manga comics, Cosplay, has been welcomed by Vietnamese people.
During the festival, cultural performances, photo exhibitions, sports activities, fashion show and folk games will take place on stages at the city’s rest-stop site in Bach Dang street, the Sculpture Park, the Old Quarter and the Japanese Bridge.
Besides, craftsmen from Sakai will introduce their products at the Sculpture Park on the festival in addition to Japanese calligraphy training, Origami art and Vietnamese palm leaf folding.
The festival will include a seminar on the restoration of the Japanese Bridge in Hoai River Square.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Van Thanh said that the past Hoi An-Japan cultural festivals have been paid many attentions from the two countries. This year's event is expected to strengthen and develop the friendship relations between Vietnam and Japan, especially Hoi An city, he added.
