Hanoi's Old Quarter flower market overwhelmed with lucky red color

Mouse figurines and adornments are hot sale items as the Year of Mouse is drawing near.

The Spring Flower Market in Hanoi is traditionally held in Hang Ma, Hang Luoc, Hang Khoai streets, along with other minor markets in the Old Quarter, they are offering Hanoians a wide choice of ornamental trees and flowers to welcome the Lunar New Year.

 
 

In the final days of the Year of the Pig, Hanoi people flock to some of the oldest streets in the city for shopping and sightseeing.

 

The Spring Flower Market is held on some streets in the Old Quarter namely Hang Luoc, Hang Khoai, Hang Ruoi, Hang Ma and Phung Hung mural street from January 1-24.

 Colorful and yummy sugared dried fruits on sale. 

Some people preferred small peach branches which are suitable to offer to the ancestors and decorate the altars. Mrs. Lien from Hai Ba Trung district said that the prices of flowers this year remain unchanged compared to those of the last Tet celebration.

 

Mouse figurines and adornments are hot sale items as the Year of Mouse is drawing near.

 

Due to the firecracker ban, its replica made of red papers can serve as another option for home décor during Tet celebration. The prices of these fake firecrackers are also affordable depending on their sizes and shapes.

 

Some handicraft decorations such as replicas of Chung cake, gio (Vietnamese sausage), golden coin, watermelon, plastic peach branches, among others, are widely sold. A tray of five aforementioned products may cost around VND450,000 (US$19).

Lanterns, lucky sentences, and fake red fire-crackers are among those most preferred decorations for Tet holiday.

 Stores rush to prepare enough goods to supply for the market during Tet holiday. 

 

Thanks to the lively atmosphere and vibrant colors of decorations sold along the streets, many photo enthusiasts are flocking to the flower market to take the beautiful snapshots of Tet.
