The ‘Oktoberfest’ was first introduced in Vietnam in 1992 by the German business community and has become one of the most awaited celebrations that every year, welcoming more than 9,000 expats and locals over 6 evenings in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

In Hanoi, the 2019 event will take place at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi from Thursday, October 17 until Saturday, October 19. It will be the largest Oktoberfest edition in Vietnam so far and tickets for Friday, October 18 have been sold out, according to information announced at a press meeting on September 24.

The fest creates the authentic atmosphere found in the massive beer halls of the original Oktoberfest in Munich, together with savory German cuisine and imported original Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer, as well as traditional live music performed by the popular Munich-based Anton Show Band.

To enhance the genuine atmosphere of the traditional Oktoberfest, this year, together with several kinds of German beer, the Original Paulaner Oktoberfest Beer will be served in the Paulaner tent at the original Oktoberfest in Munich.

“The GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam is the perfect opportunity for building relationships with potential companies and people on a more personable level before entering into a formal business agreement. It is a well-organized event that allows individuals’ and businesses’ real personalities and values’ to shine through lively and enjoyable circumstances,” said Torben Minko, vice chairman of the German Business Association (GBA) Vietnam.

Sharing the same view, the event “an excellent opportunity for Vietnamese and Germans to get together and to deepen their relationships,” said Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam.

“Oktoberfest” can be literately translated as “October Festival”. The very first Oktoberfest took place in 1810 to honor the marriage of Prince Lugwig and Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen. Today the event attracts approximately 6 million people every year to Munich, Germany as well as being celebrated world-wide by everyone who loves German culture and tradition.
