Confirmation found that 161 Vietnamese workers are working for the company. At the time of the fire, most of them were at work while some asked for a leave from work to meet friends.
Shortly after the accident broke out, the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei promptly worked with Taoyuan authority and the Vietnamese brides’ association to provide foods and water for the affected workers. They also requested labour brokers, who introduced the Vietnamese workers to work in Taiwan, to collaborate with the factory to offer them temporary accommodation.
Currenly, the Vietnamese workers were sent to work in other two factories owned by the Chin Poon Industrial Company.
Besides, Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry directed the Vietnam Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei to keep monitoring the situation, get updates on new information and investigation outcomes, work closely with related units to ensure a soon normal life for Vietnamese workers.
