A delegation of the Beijing Police has visited Hanoi to strengthen the cooperation between the two capital cities.

The visit, which took place one year after Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung, Director of the Hanoi's Department of Police, visited the Beijing Police Department, aims to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations.

During the visit, the two police departments engaged in sincere and open dialogues, reflecting on their shared history and discussing strategies to enhance cooperation in crime prevention, judicial assistance, and immigration management.

They proposed establishing a "hotline" for crime prevention collaboration and agreed to continue sharing experiences and support in training and equipment.

The Beijing Police delegation visited several Hanoi Police units, discussing security, public order, and practical experiences. 

The two sides hold talks for further cooperation.

At a meeting at the Hanoi Police Department headquarters on December 9, Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung and Deputy Director of Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau Li Feng expressed their joy over the sincere and close relationship between the police departments of the two capitals.

They reflected on the deep bond between Vietnam and China over the past 75 years, nurtured through high-level visits such as those by leaders Xi Jinping, Nguyen Phu Trong, To Lam, and Li Qiang. These visits reaffirmed strategic and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, with defense and security cooperation being a solid pillar.

During the meeting, the two departments engaged in exchanges about their experiences in combating crime, contributing to a peaceful and stable environment in both capitals. They agreed on actions to enhance cooperation, focusing on fully implementing memoranda of cooperation.

The two sides talked about key areas including judicial assistance, crime prevention, tackling new types of crime and high-tech crime, ensuring the security and safety of their respective embassies, and supporting each other in immigration management.

They also discussed strengthening coordination in combating transnational crime, proposing a "hotline" for exchanging information and updates to support crime prevention. The Beijing Police Department will continue to share its experiences and support the Hanoi Police Department in training and equipment. Both sides will enhance delegation exchanges to share practical experiences and learn from each other.

During the visit, the Beijing Police delegation worked with several units of the Hanoi Police Department, discussing security and public order, sharing practical experiences, and learning effective methods to improve their efforts.

On December 10, Major General Nguyen Hong Ky, representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, key leaders of the Tay Ho District Police, and several Hanoi Police Department units met with the Beijing Police delegation. They discussed the district's security situation and efforts to ensure the safety of foreign citizens, particularly Chinese citizens.

The Beijing delegation also conducted a field survey at the Xuan La Ward Police and visited the Immigration Management Office of the Hanoi Police Department, where they discussed managing foreigners and enhancing cooperation in immigration management.

One day later, the Beijing Police delegation met with the Quang Ninh Provincial Police, exchanging experiences and agreeing to enhance cooperation to maintain security and public order. The visit concluded on December 12 with a wide range of activities aimed at strengthening the friendship and traditional ties between the police departments.

In November 2023, a delegation from the Hanoi Police Department, led by Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung, Director of the Hanoi Police Department, visited the Beijing and Shanghai Police Departments to discuss measures to fully implement the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries of Public Security of the two countries and between the police departments of the two capitals.

They also agreed to enhance delegation exchanges to make cooperation substantive and to share more experiences in ensuring security and public order.

The police departments of Hanoi and Beijing have deepened their cooperation through a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering public security with their collaboration including efforts to combat transnational crime, streamline immigration management, and enhance judicial assistance.

Recent joint activities have featured specialized training programs, technological exchanges, and coordinated crime prevention strategies. Both sides have reaffirmed the necessity of mutual support to effectively address shared security concerns and maintain social stability in their respective cities.
