The 139-seater boat is fitted with the latest safety regulations for navigation and has an average speed of 30 knots per hour. It will be officially put into operation at the end of April.
The construction of the Super Bien Dong was completed six months ahead of schedule, and it is the most state-of-the-art vessel on the sea route linking Ky Ha port with Ly Son Island.
There are currently 11 boats bringing visitors to Ly Son Island. The launch of the new vessel aims to renovate the fleet and better serve visitors to the island, according to Chairman of Ly Son district People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh.
In addition, Ly Son Island, 30km off the coast of Quang Ngai Province, will open a night market for tourists on the island in May, 2018. The night market will be located in front of Muong Thanh Ly Son Hotel in An Vinh Commune.
“The market, which will run from 6:00 pm until 10:30 pm daily, will host 40 pavilions selling souvenirs, dried seafood and specialties of the island as well as an entertainment centre,” Vice chairwoman of the district’s People’s Committee, Pham Thi Huong was quoted as saying.
The island has 18 hotels, guesthouses and homestays providing accommodation for 1,000 tourists at present. In 2017, Ly Son Island and An Binh Islet hosted more than 200,000 tourists, according to Quang Ngai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.a
