Luis Fonsi - singer of Despacito arrives in Vietnam
Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Luis Fonsi will join other international and domestic artists at the 2018 Cocofest in Da Nang on July 6 and 7.
Puerto Rican star Luis Fonsi, who rose to fame worldwide with the 2017 hit song Despacito and his team arrived in Da Nang International Airport on July 3. Accordingly, Luis Fonsi will bring the hit “Despacito” to perform at the 2018 Cocofest in Da Nang on July 6 and 7.
Luis Fonsi, born Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero, took the world’s music by storm with his Latin pop song Despacito in collaboration with fellow Puerto Rican artist Daddy Yankee, which won a total of four Latin Grammy Awards. The music video had garnered more than 5.2 billion views on YouTube, breaking the record for most-viewed video in history of the Google-owned website.
Despacito, translated into English as “Slowly,” also ranked the fifth best Latin song of all time by New York-based entertainment media brand Billboard last year. The music fest in Da Nang will be the Southeast Asia debut for Puerto Rican superstar.
Aside from Luis Fonsi, the event also see the attendance of Nicole Scherzinger, a US pop star and former lead singer of The Pussycat Dolls who broke up in 2010. In 2010, she was the winner of the US Dancing with the Stars contest. In 2011, Nicole was a mentor and judge on The X-factor show in the UK. In 2015, she won the “I can do that” variety show in the US.
The most anticipated music event of this year - Cocofest in Vietnam is going to cost Empire corporation over US$4.3 million. This music festival aims to promote Vietnam’s image to the world.
The event will be held at Cocobay Resort, will offer food, public culture games, workshop and many other entertainment activities to over 30,000 visitors, according to the organizers.
