Launching the "Vegetable Gardens in the Truong Sa islands" programme
As many as 230 million VND was mobilised at the launching ceremony of the programme titled "Vegetable Gardens in the Truong Sa islands" held in Hanoi on March 2, according to the organising board.

The programme was jointly implemented by the Vietnam Central Red Cross, Vietnam Heart Foundation - the Vietnam Television and National Humanitarian Portal 1400, and Club for the national islands.
According to Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, Head of the Club for the national islands, a campaign raising donations for "Vegetable Gardens in the Truong Sa (Spratly) islands" programme through SMS was launched on February 24 and will last until April 24.
She added that by texting BD to 1408, an individual can donate 20,000 VND to the programme.
Through the programme, the organising board expects to receive donations throughout the country to build clean vegetable gardens and soft fitted tank containing fresh water for people and army in the Truong Sa islands
The entire donated money will be used to develop vegetable gardens and buy water tanks for the officers, soldiers and people who live and work on the islands.
During the launching ceremony, the programme received 230 million VND donated by organizations and businesses.
On the occasion, MC Phan Anh was officially recognised to be the first ambassador of the Vietnam Central Red Cross.
MC Phan Anh shared that such charity programme can help to raise the awareness of every citizen in supporting the community.
"Vegetable Gardens in the Truong Sa (Spratly) islands" prgramme is expected to be spreaded across the country.
The campaign is considered as a direct way to send love to the soldiers in the Truong Sa islands.
