Launching the “Green Truong Sa" programme
The Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in collaboration with the Vietnam Navy launched the “Truong Sa xanh” (Green Truong Sa) programme for the 2016-2018 period on March 10.
According to the organisers, the “Truong Sa xanh” programme aims to seek measures to producing more varieties of sea weather-adaptable vegetables for people and soldiers on Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
The organisers aim to raise the sense of patriotism, solidarity and responsibility to defend the national sovereignty over sea and islands among people, especially the teenagers.
The programme is also calling for scientists' practical supports to develop bio-technologies to treat wastes on the archipelago.
Also in 2016, more sea water desalination facilities will be installed in islands belonging to the archipelago.
Besides, portable seawater filters will be studied for use on fishing and naval vessels.
The programme calls on individuals, publishers and organisations to donate books for Truong Sa people.
The organising board received supports of many organisations and inviduals at the launching ceremony.
