Lao leader hopes for stronger Vientiane-Hanoi cooperation

Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavath has said he hopes that the capital cities of Laos and Vietnam will continue to strengthen and tighten their traditional friendship and cooperation.
During his reception for visiting Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Deputy Secretary of Hanoi’s Party Committee, in Vientiane on September 9, the Lao leader hailed the effective recent cooperation between the two countries’ capitals, affirming that the relations have seen strong and intensive development.
The Vietnamese guest extolled the leadership and orientation of the Lao Party and State in the country’s development cause, which resulted in great achievements.
The Vietnam-Laos traditional friendship is a valuable asset of the two Parties, States and peoples, she stated.
Hang also briefed the Lao host on the results of recent cooperation between Hanoi and Vientiane, which focused on exchanging delegations, information sharing, urban infrastructure development, human resources training, healthcare network development and connections in agriculture, education and social security.
She asked Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavath, who is also President of the Laos-Vietnam Cooperation Sub-Committee, to work with leaders of the two sub-committees to facilitate stronger cooperation in all-around fields between the two capitals, contributing to the special solidarity and friendship between the two Parties and States.
The Lao Deputy Prime Minister expressed his desire that Hanoi would continue sharing experience with the Lao capital, especially in urban development and management, political stability and social order maintenance, and urban planning.
Previously, the Hanoi’s delegation paid a courtesy visit to Secretary of the Party Committee and Mayor of Vientiane Sinlavong Khouphaythone and held talks with a delegation from the Vientiane Party Committee, during which the two sides agreed to promote multifaceted affiliation between the two capitals.
