Minh Tam 15:51, 2017/11/18
The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong will surpass the target of receiving a total of 5.9 million tourists, of which 400,000 are foreigners, in 2017.
According to the province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province received 5.85 million tourists by mid November, up 7.8 percent year-on-year.
Among the total, domestic visitors made up 5.45 million, a 6.3 percent rise. Especially, the number of foreign tourists to the province surged up to 35.6 per cent against the same period last year to 400,000. Of that, about 4 million visitors stayed at the province in 2.1 days on average.
Total revenue from tourism of the province is estimated at VND10.53 trillion (US$463.87 million), up 7.8 percent compared with the same period of 2016.
The department attributed the surged to the hot weather in many other cities and provinces in 2017.

Besides, many large cultural events and festivals were held in the province, helping it attract visitors, the department said.
The department forecast that the number of tourists to the province will continuously increase in the next few months thanks to the Da Lat Flower Festival and New Year festival.
The 7th Da Lat Flower Festival, themed “Flowers of Da Lat – Miracle from the good earth”, will be held from December 23-27 in Lam Dong’s Da Lat City.
According to Vo Ngoc Hiep, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Da Lat City, the festival provides an opportunity for local businesses in the tourism industry to foster local uniqueness among visitors.
As per the province's plan, 15 main programs will be launched during the five-day festival including a fashion show, an Ao Dai fashion week, art performances, a fresh vegetable fair and a “Silk-Tea” night.
In addition, this year’s event will continue promoting the branding of flowers and tourism in Da Lat and also introduce traditional tea and silk products of the province.
To demonstrate the friendliness and hospitality of Da Lat City and Lam Dong province, the province’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism has recently introduced its new tourism code of conduct.
The code, which consists of two sections, outlines social norms and responsibilities of participating parties in the tourism sector, including tourists, travel agencies, tour guides, accommodation facilities and local residents, among others.
The code will also be implemented in other areas with tourism potential such as Bao Loc city and Lac Duong district.
Lam Dong province has about 1,300 accommodation facilities, 100 tourist attractions and 58 tour operators, as well as thousands of groups and individuals engaging in tourism services.
