Huge cooperation potential between Hanoi and Ontario (Canada)
Leaders of Hanoi city met Kathleen Wynne Premier of Ontario (Canada) during her trip to Vietnam this week.

Standing Deputy Secretary of Hanoi Party Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang was pleased to announce after the visit of Hanoi delegation in Canada in June, 2017 that the cooperation between Hanoi and Canada has achieved many positive results.
In 2017, Hanoi attracted five more Canadian FDI projects, raising the total registered capital to about $ 29.2 million. "This is a positive signal showing the strong progress in business cooperation between Hanoi and other provinces and cities in Canada, including Ontario and I expects to further outstanding cooperation between the two sides", Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang said.
On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of bilateral relations between Vietnam and Canada in 2018, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang proposed two provinces and cities to carry out cultural exchange activities; including the Ontario Cultural Day in Hanoi and the Hanoi Cultural Day in Ontario, as well as investment, trade and tourism promotion seminars.
Thanks to the warm welcome of the leaders and people of Hanoi, Premier Kathleen Wynne also agreed that both parties has potential to develop comprehensive cooperation in all fields. Sharing the overview of activities during the visit, Premier Kathleen Wynne affirmed that Ontario and Hanoi owns many similarities - a solid basis for both sides to seek opportunities for cooperation, especially in investment in infrastructure, education and training, tourism development, which are the strengths of the province.
According to Ms. Wynne, 56 delegates in this delegation considered the visit a valuable opportunity to explore the investment environment of Hanoi, enabling both sides to enhance exchanges and cooperation. On the 45th anniversary of the relationship, Premier Wynne highly appreciated the proposal from Hanoi and hoped the two sides would intensify their coordination to organize these events effectively.
In agreement with the suggestions from the Premier, Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hang said that after the meeting, the city government will exchange with relevant agencies to prepare well for the upcoming 45th anniversary event. At the same time, strengthening the cultural exchange activities for bilateral cooperation in the coming time.
In advance, on Dec 5, Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung had a meeting with Premier of Ontario, during which the two sides sought measures to forge cooperation in many areas.
Chung expressed hope that the visit will strengthen bilateral collaboration in education and training, high technology application on administrative reform, health care, human resources, tourism, green technology transfer, and business experience exchange. He said potential remains to improve ties, stating that Hanoi wishes to work with Ontario in all fields.
For her part, Wynne said that Canadian businesses are interested in the Vietnamese and Hanoi market. Her visit aims to show Canadian goodwill for cooperation in a hope to deepen relations between the two sides, she said.Wynne told her host that Ontario is one of the economic driving forces of Canada with strength in green technology. She affirmed that Ontario is willing to support Hanoi in all areas, especially education and training.
Stressing the need for the governments of both localities to pay more attention to linking businesses of both sides, she suggested that the two localities’ officials hold dialogues regularly.
