Pop star Ho Ngoc Ha will represent Vietnam in the Best Worldwide Act category of the MTV European Music Awards (MTV EMA 2014), due to take place in Scotland on November 9.

In the Southeast Asia category, the female Vietnamese singer will compete with representatives of several regional countries, including Agnez Mo and NOAH of Indonesia, Yuna of Malaysia, Geronimo of the Philippines, Stefanie Sun of Singapore, and Slot Machine of Thailand.

With 246,289 votes online, Ha beat other five nominees, namely Son Tung M-TP, Noo Phuoc Thinh, Trung Quan Idol, Dong Nhi and Bich Phuong, to represent Vietnam at the regional contest.

Last year, famed pop star My Tam became the first Vietnamese artist to compete in the MTV EMA’s Best Worldwide Act category in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The MTV Networks Europe first organized MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) in 1994 to honour best MVs in Europe. In 2011, the category of the Best Worldwide Act was added to the awards.
