“Hat Xam” to return to stage of the Hanoi Opera House
KTĐT - The spectacular art performance of the traditional music genre titled "Xam and Life" will be showed on stage of the Hanoi Opera House on January 20 to re-create a space of the Hanoi’s ancient streets, where “Hat Xam” (blind buskers’ singing) were very popular.

Director of the Centre for Research, Preservation and Promotion of Vietnamese Traditional Culture, Professor Hoang Chuong, who is also general director of the performance programme, said the art was very popular in many northern localities and Hanoi during the early 20th century.The organizers of the performance is expected to contribute to preserve the value of this traditional music genre with the participants of current young artists. The event will feature numerous young artists, including Mai Tuyet Hoa, Quang Long, Khuong Cuong, Nhat Giang...

Contemporary Xam is tunes of the traditional Xam, combined with current poems, on the one hand contributing to richer content for lyrics, on the other hand aiming to make “Hat Xam” closer to audience.
Xam in combination with other musical genres is combined with the contemporary world music in order to exploit the advantages of this traditional music genre.
Ending the program, organizers will award scholarships to some young people who have been passionate about learning, preserving and promoting “Hat Xam” in many different ways.
