Public entertainment venues in the Old Quarter will open daily, from September 1 (Thursday) until the end of September 4 (Sunday).
The proposal of the Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee on extending the opening hours of the Pedestrian Zone on the occasion of the National Day holiday has been approved by the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Meanwhile, the streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas will pedestrianized from 7pm to 12am at the same days.
Hoan Kiem District is responsible for ensuring public hygiene, enforce traffic regulation and urban order during these days.
According to Vice Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People’s Committee Nguyen Quoc Hoan, after its reopening in April, the Pedestrian Zone around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas have been attracting millions of people and tourists.
“The extension of Hoan Kiem Lake walking space’s opening hours will contribute to the recovery of service, trade and tourism industry of Hoan Kiem District after Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.
The walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and surrounding areas in Hanoi downtown has become a brand, a cultural avenue, and a highlight of the capital city since 1997.
Featuring a large area covering over 25 streets and alleys in Hanoi’s Old Quarter area in Hoan Kiem District, the Pedestrian Zone is closed to traffic from Friday night through Sunday mid-night.
It has also contributed to ensuring security and order, gradually curbing motorized vehicles, creating a new lifestyle for Hanoi’s people, and promoting the capital city’s image - the UNESCO City for Peace.
