Hanoi to host International Fingerstyle Guitar Festival

Fingerstyle is a genre of solo guitar music characterized by a unique technique of playing guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips or fingernails.
The fifth International Fingerstyle Guitar Festival will be held at the Tuoi Tre (Youth) Theater in Hanoi on August 17, aiming to bring a variety and different styles of this technique to Vietnamese audiences, the Government Portal reported. 
 
Five foreign artists will perform at the International Freestyle Guitar Festival.

The event, held by Wind Strings Music Company, the Youth Theater, and Vietnam Fingerstyle Guitar Organization, will welcome performances from five famous foreign guitarists including Feng E from Taiwan (China), CK Chen and Ivan Song from mainland China, Kanaho and Masa Sumide from Japan. 

Fingerstyle is a genre of solo guitar music characterized by a unique technique of playing guitar by plucking the strings directly with the fingertips or fingernails. It is a unique and new type of guitar technique originated from the US and has gained popularity in Vietnam recently. 

Under the form of the one-man-band, a solo guitarist can play the perfect sounds and melody that a band does. Fingerstyle guitar is is also highest level of creativeness, allowing players to freely exhibit their techniques and personalities.

The event has been held annually since 2010 in Asian countries with the participation of several famous artists worldwide. This year, the festival is expected to be an occasion for cultural exchange with impressive performances and strong emotions.
