The national exam results are used for graduating from high school and being admitted to university.

More than one million 12th graders in Vietnam sat for the first day of the national high school graduation exam on June 28, including 102,000 students in Hanoi.

Nationwide, more than 44,660 examination classrooms have been set up in nearly 2,280 venues, according to a Ministry of Education and Training report.

In Hanoi, the municipal education and training department has prepared more than 4,300 examination classrooms at 189 venues and mobilized some 19,500 officials, teachers and staff to supervise the exams.

Nationwide, the results of the national high school graduation exams are used for graduation and admission to universities and colleges.

Hanoi had the largest number of candidates, with about 102,000, or about 10% of the country's total, followed by Ho Chi Minh City, with more than 85,400 students.

The two-day National Graduation Examination 2023 began today with tests in literature and mathematics and will conclude tomorrow with tests in social and natural sciences and foreign languages.

Hanoi's authorities asked the people in charge to ensure the availability of disinfectants, guide students, and keep in touch with parents on exam days. The city authorities stressed that the entire political system had made great efforts to create the best conditions for candidates.

After the Literature test this morning, many candidates said they felt quite confident and comfortable.

"I don't have too much pressure on this exam because I am pretty good in all subjects. I have been reviewing and brushing up on the lessons, so I felt the exam questions were right for me. What I want most now is cool weather for the next day," Truong Hoang Minh, a 12th grader at Lomonosov My Dinh High School in Hanoi's Nam Tu Liem district, told The Hanoi Times.
