Dang Tuan Anh, a 12th grader at Chu Van An High School, won a gold medal at the 2024 International Biology Olympiad held in Kazakhstan from July 7-13. His result helped Vietnam rank third in the overall standings.

As a top student in the past three years, Anh has earned several achievements, including two gold medals at the Regional Excellent Student Contest of Northern Delta Coastal Specialized Schools in the two academic years of 2022 and 2023, a first prize at the Hanoi Excellent Student Contest in the academic year of 2023, a second prize at the National Excellent Student Contest in the academic year of 2024.

He also received two certificates of merit from the Minister of Education and Training at the end of the 2023 and 2024 academic years.

In addition to his academic performance, Anh has always been an active member of the school's Youth Union and participated in many volunteer activities.

The other, Huynh Trieu Dien, a fifth grader at Giang Bien Primary School in Long Bien District, was praised for his courage in saving a child from drowning.

On July 16, in Duy Hai Commune, Duy Son District, Quang Nam Province, Dien saw a nine-year-old child nearly drown while swimming in prohibited water. The fifth-grader swam to the child without hesitation, and both returned unharmed.

Dien's achievement was then recognized and honored by the Duy Hai commune government.

According to the Long Bien District Department of Education and Training, Dien won the gold medal at the 12th Ba Dinh District Swimming Competition and the gold medal at the Bac Ninh Province Open Swimming Tournament.

Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, congratulated the two students  on their achievements.

He hoped that students in Hanoi would follow Anh and Dien's example and achieve higher results in the future, thus contributing to the growth of the capital and the nation.
