Hanoi has lifted restrictions on its last coronavirus hotbed and has no Covid-19 outbreak left, Kinhtedothi.vn reported.

Hanoi authorities imposed a lockdown on Dong Cuu village on April 16 after a Covid-19 case was detected in the locality. Only one case had been confirmed in the village since then.

All local residents tested negative for the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes the Covid-19 disease. They are now in stable health condition, with no one showing abnormal symptoms.

During the past 28 days, the residents have cooperated with the local administration by strictly following regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control, said sources from the local government.

Local residents are happy when the restrictions are lifted, and said the local authorities who had previously established surveillance groups to monitor the residents’ health every day encouraged them to abide by health recommendations, and timely detect any suspected cases.

The Dong Cuu village has become the last Covid 19 hotbed in Hanoi to be wiped out.

Since the last patient was recorded in Hanoi’s Me Linh district on April 15, Hanoi has recorded no Covid-19 deaths to date.

With no new Covid-19 case confirmed Thursday morning, Vietnam has gone 28 consecutive days without community infection of the virus. Currently, only 19 patients are still under treatment.

The national government continues to implement measures to thoroughly prevent external sources of Covid-19 infection. All foreign arrivals must be put under quarantine for 14 days and tested for coronavirus twice.
