Hanoi must tighten Covid-19 discipline: Municipal Party chief
Anh Kiet - Tran Long 18:05, 2020/11/29
Hanoi has not reported any local Covid-19 infection for over three months, but there remain sources of coronavirus contagion such as the risk of re-infection from convalescents and illegal entries.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue has requested all localities in the city to strictly and effectively carry out measures to prevent the resurgence of Covid-19 and reduce its impact on people’s life, Kinh te & Do thi reported.

The municipal Party chief said at a working session with the Hanoi’s Party Committee on November 28 that the city’s authorities and people should not loosen vigilance though more than 100 days have passed without any local infection of Covid-19 detected in Hanoi.

He cited experts as saying that the risk of a resurgence of the Covid-19 pandemic is latent, so staying vigilant is a must, as cold and dry winter conditions favor the transmission of the virus.

With the Vietnamese government’s sound leadership and the close collaboration between the National Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, ministries and localities, Vietnam has effectively and promptly locked down affected areas, helping to achieve the dual goal of fighting the pandemic and ensuring economic growth.

Therefore, Hanoi’s districts must keep effectively implementing Covid-19 prevention measures and proactively allocating resources and taking appropriate solutions to support businesses and people who have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Hue stressed.

Concluding the meeting, the municipal Party chief noted that Hanoi had not reported any local Covid-19 infection for over three months, but there remained sources of coronavirus contagion such as the risk of re-infection from convalescents and illegal entries.

Thus, he requested all localities and people to be on high alert on Covid-19 prevention by complying with all the anti-pandemic protocols, such as wearing face masks in public places, limiting crowds and massive events, among others.
