Hanoi leader welcomes new Cuban ambassador
Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hosted a reception on Dec 29 for new Cuban Ambassador Lianys Torres Rivera who came on occasion of her new tenure in Vietnam.
At the reception, both sides highlighted the fact that Vietnam and Cuba have bonded over special relations laid by President Ho Chi Minh and the late Cuban leader Fidel Castro which has been nurtured by generations of leaders and people from both nations. They agreed that achievement in bilateral tie was also based on firm background of sound good traditional relation between the two capitals of Hanoi and Havana.
The Cuban Ambassador paid gratitude to Hanoi government’s support for embassy connecting the two countries through high-level exchanges, trade and economic cooperation and investor attraction during the past time. Affirming that 2018 marks numerous milestones in bilateral tie, among which is the 45th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro's first trip to Quang Tri Province; she hoped the municipal government would continue to facilitate promotion programs between Havana and Hanoi, as well as Cuba and Vietnam.
Congratulating Lianys Torres Rivera on her new role, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung wished she would complete her missions, have a successful ambassador tenure. For his parts, he ensured the Hanoi government's support to upcoming activites of Cuban Embassy in Hanoi, especially to celebrate diplomatic milestone between two countries in 2018.
Hanoi and Havana, particularly, have been growing robustly in many fields, Chung said, expressing his hope that Lianys Torres Rivera will continuously put efforts to promote cooperation between the two countries in her tenure.
