With the theme "Ensuring Social Welfare, Empowerment and Opportunities for Women and Girls to Achieve Gender Equality and Eliminate Gender-Based Violence," the campaign will run from November 15 to December 15.

Bach Lien Huong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, highlighted the long-standing commitment and leadership of the Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council and People's Committee to gender equality and women's progress.

According to Huong, Hanoi has taken steps to boost the number of women in leadership positions in all government agencies for 2021-2030. District-level administrations, departments, and organizations have also actively pursued the gender equality goals outlined in the National Strategy for Gender Equality for 2021-2030.

To date, women hold more than 60%  of leadership positions at all three levels of government, 100% of those affected by domestic and gender-based violence receive basic support services, and all perpetrators of violence receive comprehensive counseling. Furthermore, all public social services have put in place programs to help victims and stop gender-based violence.

Social welfare initiatives also remain a priority, with timely and appropriate assistance provided to women and children in accordance with central government and Hanoi-specific policies.

Special attention has been given to vocational training, job creation, and concessional loan programs to support women in business and production. As a result, nearly 29,000 women workers received concessional loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policy from January to October.

Hanoi has also launched special programs to promote gender equality and women's empowerment, providing women in the capital with access to learning opportunities, resources, and social advancement, thereby affirming their role and status in various aspects of life.

At the ceremony, Hanoi leaders presented 100 gift sets worth a total of VND135 million (US$5,300) to 100 children from underprivileged families in Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem and Hoai Duc districts.
