Jenna Duong 22:01, 2021/07/21
The photo exhibitions aim to showcase the distinctiveness of nature and the beautiful landscapes of Italy and Vietnam.

The exhibition titled “Italian Routes - Mountains, mountaineering, climate change” will take place from July 23 to August 23 at the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology in Hanoi.

The exhibition gives Hanoians an opportunity to admire the distinctive landscapes of Italy. Poster provided by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi.

“The exhibition, based on the outstanding works of photographer and environmentalist Fabiano Ventura, aims to show to the international audience the great Italian tradition linked to mountain culture, the relevance of mountaineering as a means of respecting and understanding the mountain habitat, and the devastating impact of climate change on our precious ecosystem and biodiversity,” according to the Italian Embassy in Hanoi.

Fabiano Ventura is a landscape photographer specializing in environmental issues, he has taken part in numerous international scientific, photographic, and mountaineering expeditions. Since 2007, he has been involved in the project On the Trails of the Glaciers, of which he is initiator and director. His sensitivity towards the growing problem of climate change has led him to focus much on raising awareness of this phenomenon among the general audience.

The highlight of the exhibition is Montagne Italiane (Italian Mountains), an ideal journey to explore the entire Alpine arc from west to east, starting from the Gran Paradiso.

The photo of the Son Doong Cave by Vietnamese photographer Tran Dang Khoa will be on display at the exhibition

The exhibition Italian Routes will be held in parallel with another photo exhibition titled “Landscape of Vietnam - Ecological Diversity, New Climate Pattern, New Discovery” by three remarkable Vietnamese photographers Hoang The Nhiem, Hoang Giang Hai, and Tran Dang Dang Khoa.

Showcasing 15 works on Vietnamese caves and mountains, the photo exhibition offers a glimpse of local mountain areas in the eyes of prominent local artists. Nhiem introduces five photos of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark in Ha Giang Province that he took between 2008 and 2012, while Hai’s photos show snow on Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range in 2016. Khoa presents works on Son Doong Cave in Quang Binh Province.

The duo Italian- Vietnamese photo exhibition with well-curated photography is an opportunity to admire the distinctiveness of nature and the beautiful landscapes of  Italy and Vietnam.

Alongside the two exhibitions, there will be four online events themed mountaineering (July 31), rope climbing (August 7), photography (August 14), and climate change (August 19)  organized at the https://www.facebook.com/ItalyinVietnam.

The exhibition will be held in strict compliance with Covid-19 preventive measures. Visitors are advised to pre-register at culturale.hanoi@esteri.it.
