Hanoi honours 20 organisations in raising "For beloved Truong Sa" fund
Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee held a meeting on June 7 to review the contribution for the "For beloved Truong Sa" fund and honour outstanding organisations in raising the fund.
Chairman of Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee Vu Hong Khanh, Head of Public Relations of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thi Lan Huong and representatives of relevant agencies attended the conference.
The fundraising activities aim to inspire patriotism among local residents and raise their responsibility for protecting their sovereignty.
The city’s Party Committee and Fatherland Front Committee started to raise the fund on March 30 and by May 30. The municipal Fatherland Front Committee sent the announcement to call for the contribution to the fun from the agencies, unions, the organisations, units and businesses in the city.
As of May 30, the municipal Party Committee and Fatherland Front Committee had collected more than 45.5 billion VND, or 2.03 million USD, from donors across Hanoi.
The units that supported the fund with the large amounts includes Vietnam Industry and Trade Joint Stock Bank at 5 billion VND, Hanoi Police with 1.243 billion VND, and officials of the municipal Trade union raised 1.346 billion VND.
Addressing the meeting, Chairman of the municipal Fatherland Front Committee Vu Hong Khanh said that 35 billion VND of the sum will be sent to soldiers and residents living in Truong Sa island district, while the remaining will be used to run programmes in support of the district.
On the occasion, the Hanoi Fatherland Front Committee has awarded the certificate of merit to 20 collectives for their outstanding contributions in raising the “For beloved Truong Sa” fund.
