Government adjusts Mekong Delta construction planning
Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just approved the adjustment on the construction planning for the Mekong Delta to 2030, with vision to 2050.
Accordingly, the Government will develop the Mekong Delta in the direction of green growth, sustainability, and adaptation to climate change to become a key national area for agricultural production, fishing and aquaculture, marine economy development, and ecological tourism.
Focus on developing processing industry
Regarding the orientations for industrial development, Vietnam will focus on developing the processing industry in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and foodstuffs to link up with raw material production areas, diversify products, and expand consumption markets.
Investing, developing and exploiting industrial parks established up to 2030 will be prioritized.
The Government also plans to review and re-evaluate the industrial parks which have been established but have not yet received investment in order to set a plan for changing the land use purposes and ensuring the efficient use of the allocated land area.
Additionally, industries that pollute the environment will see restrictions.
Tourism development to be linked with natural ecosystem protection
The Mekong Delta is a key national tourism destination with diversified tourism products.
Particularly, river and island ecology are typical to develop numerous tourist sites in the Mekong Delta.
In the future, tourism development in the area will be connected to the protection of the natural ecosystem.
The Government will establish regional tourism routes based on linking natural and cultural heritage sites.
Furthermore, there will be added investment to construct a synchronous infrastructure system to serve tourism, to reinforce linkages between regions and tourism sites.
The authorities will also work to perfect service centers, tourist accommodation and entertainment establishments, and travel links with other regions.
