German-Vietnamese Hiphop Project: “Hiphop, Tanz und DJ”
A show by DJ Mirko Machine, choreographer Raphael Hillebrand & Vietnamese hiphop dance crew S.I.N.E.
On the occasion of the Deutschlandfest 2017, the Goethe-Institut HCMC brings a new Hip Hop production on the stage at the Saigon Zoo on April 22nd. In collaboration with DJ Mirko Machine, the Hip Hop-dancer and choreographer Raphael Hillebrand and the Vietnamese Hip Hop Dance Crew SINE present a joint show.
At the Deutschlandfest German institutions and companies will present their work in Vietnam under the auspieces of the German Embassy. The most varied facets of Germany can be experienced by visitors: from German food and drinks, musical and acrobatic performances through to booths with informations on German as a foreign language, study in Germany and professional training by German standards.
The Berlin Hip-Hop dancer and choreographer Raphael Hillebrand first met Khan Linh Pham in May 2004 at the legendary Battle during the ASEM Summit, in which the local B-Boy Scene competed with the German and French visitors. This encounter marked the beginning of their artistic cooperation.
“Run! Get down! Fire! Run!” This time, Raphael Hillebrand’s performance will blow you away: with dance and text he’ll embark on a journey to the generation of his grandfather and great-grandfather. The culmination of the evening will be a Hip Hop Battle, where members of SINE and external Hip Hop Dancers compete against each other and have to prove themselves in front of the jury, consisting of Raphael Hillebrand and SINE members. Based on a selected hip-hop set, the DJ Mirko Machine will accompany the performances with groovy hip-hop beats. Look forward to a mixed program varied range of programmes!
Raphael Hillebrand began his career as a Hip-Hop dancer in Berlin, and has won numerous B-Boy-Battles (including Battle of the Year 2006, IBE in Rotterdam). At the same time he participated in theater productions, initially as performer, then increasingly in collective creations and today as choreographer and dancer, for Goethe-Institut, HAU, Radialsystem, Schauspielhaus Bochum und Theater Freiburg, among others. Raphael Hillebrand studied choreography at the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin (HZT) from 2012 to 2014. He toured Central America in 2014 with his graduation production “POW_2045”.
