Free entrance to Hue imperial relic site during 2019 Tet festival
Thua Thien-Hue strives to welcome about 4.5 – 4.7 million tourists in 2019, an 8% increase from 2018. Tourism revenues are projected to increase 10% to reach VND4.5 – 4.7 trillion (US$193 – 202 million).
The Hue Monuments Conservation Center will offer free entrance for domestic visitors during the first three days of the 2019 Lunar New Year, or Tet holiday, from February 5 to 7.
According to Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center Phan Thanh Hai, during the 2019 Lunar New Year, visitors to the imperial relics will be treated to the re-enactment of the ancient court ceremonies, the Nha Nhac court music performance, art programs, lion dance, among other activities.
Earlier, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center restored a ceremony to plant a Neu pole at the citadel and held various royal rituals, in addition to making chung cake (a traditional cake made from glutinous rice dedicated to Lunar New Year), music performances, calligraphy, and folk games.
In 2018, the Hue imperial relic site welcomed more than 3.5 million visitors, of the total holidaymakers, 2.2 million were foreigners, according to the Thua Thien-Hue Department of Tourism.

This year, the center is working to develop cultural heritage tourism and stage frequent cultural and art performances.
Along with the tour package themed “Hue-One Destination, Five World Heritages”, the province will relaunch the night tour to Dai Noi (Royal Palace), as well as build a brand for Hue cuisine and bolster tourism promotion to draw more visitors to the imperial city.
