Francophone Film Festival 2017
Screenings of 11 fiction films in Hanoi – Vinh – Hue – HCMC to introduce the cultural diversity of La Francophonie.
The 2017 Francophone Film Festival is organized in Hanoi, Vinh, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City by the partners of the Group of Embassies, Delegations and Francophone Institutions in Vietnam.
This Festival represents the cultural diversity of La Francophonie. The program for the 2017 edition is composed of 11 fiction films presented by the Embassies of Canada, France, Morocco, Switzerland, the Wallonia-Brussels delegation, the Vietnamese Department of Cinema, International organization of Francophonie. The films are subtitled in Vietnamese, with the exception of Vietnamese films which are subtitled in French. The following films will be screened at L’Espace as part of the 2017 French Film Festival:
1. Gus – Petit oiseau, grand voyage (19 Mar, 4 pm)

2.Mekong Stories (20 Mar, 7 pm)

“The film is about the people on the Mekong river bank who are struggling to survive and face the drastic changes of Saigon in the early 2000s.”
Official submission at the Berlin Film Festival 2015. Unsuitable for children under 16 years old.

“The moving story of the little girl of the mountains offers a facelift with a new neat feature film” – Direct Matin
4. À peine j’ouvre les yeux (22 Mar, 7 pm)
Director: Leyla Bouzid
Country: Tunisia
A young Tunisian woman tries to break her chains. A hymn to rebellious, daring youth with a burning desire for freedom.
This film is unsuitable for children under 16 years old.
5. La Grande Villa (23 Mar, 7 pm)
Director: Latif Lahlou
Country: Morocco
What happens when family members, who have immersed themselves in two different cultures, come together and live together under the same roof?
6. Caprice (24 Mar, 6 pm)

A romantic comedy driven by the charm of its actors/actresses: Virginie Efira, Anaïs Demoustier, Laurent Stocker and Emmanuel Mouret.
7. L’Écharpe rouge (28 Mar, 7 pm)

Country: Morocco
This is a touching and bold film because the border conflict between Algeria and Morocco and its repercussions on the lives of the innocent are exploited for the first time by a Moroccan filmmaker.
This film is unsuitable for children under 13 years old
8. Palace du Prince (29 Mar, 7 pm) (-16)

Under the dynasty of the Lords Nguyen Phuc Lan – Nguyen Phuc Tan, the stories of beauties and conspiracies to seize power are at the origin of many tragedies.
9.Le Mépris (31 Mar, 8 pm & 2 Apr, 6 pm)

Lost in the twists and turns of a script on “The Odyssey”, Paul feels his wife detach from him. Camille no longer loves him. Worse, she despises him. One of the essential works of Jean-Luc Godard, aesthetically sublime and rich in reflections on cinema and the couple.
10. Laurence Anyways (2 Apr, 8 pm)

The incredible love story between a woman and a transgender woman brought Xavier Dolan an award at the Toronto International Film Festival and an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival in 2012 at the age of only 23.
