Foreign visitors to Vietnam exceed 9 million arrivals
The General Statistics Office unveiled that the number of international visitors to Vietnam surpassed 9 million arrivals in the past 11 months of this year, up 25.4% over the same period last year.
Vietnam welcomed 9,004,039 foreign tourists in the January-November, according to the General Statistics Office.
This is the first time that the Vietnam's international visitors have reached more 9 million arrivals.
With this impressive result, Vietnam's tourism industry has exceeded the target of 8.5 million for 2016.
According to the General Statistics Office, in November alone, more than 926,000 foreign travellers visited Vietnam, an rise of 14.1% over the previous month and 24.9% over the same period of last year.
In particular, arrivals by air reached 768,221 arrivals, accounting for 82.9%; by sea: 16,843 passengers, accounting for 1.8%; by road: 141,578 arrivals, accounting for 15.3%.

Meanwhile, the total number of domestic visitors was 57.7 million arrivals during the period.
International visitors from the main have recorded a significant increase, including Hong Kong (up 72.9%), China (53.9%), Korea (39.2), New Zealand (35.4%), Russia (29.1%), Thailand (29.0%), Italy (28.5%), Spain (27.7%), the Netherlands (23.5%), and UK (20.8%).
The total revenue of the tourism sector was over 368,600 billion VND, up 18.6% year on year.
An upturn has emerged in almost major markets, with the highest rise in tourism from Hong Kong at 72.9%, followed by China (53.9%), the Republic of Korea (39.2%), New Zealand (35.4%), Russia (29.1%) and Thailand (29%).
