The movie tells a story about the race between Viet (starring Khuong Ngoc) and Nin (starring Quy Binh) on the street and in real life. Viet is a well-known car guy in Saigon who owns a premium car salon. One day, his life has changed when Nin, a mechanic who also has a strong passion for speed and car facelift, comes to work at Viet’s salon and makes him feels as if he were challenged by the newcomer. And so the race begins between two people with different backgrounds but the same fiery passion for speed.
At the press conference to present the movie’s cast on Tuesday, the director and also producer of the film Phan Minh said that “Speed and the Curve” is not only about super cars’ speed or the curve of the racing tracks and bombshells in the movie, but it is also a metaphor for the rapid changing speed as well as ups and downs in life.
The movie is shot in Thailand, Binh Duong, and HCMC, featuring Khuong Ngoc, Diem My, Quy Binh, and Le Khanh among others. “The super cars used in the movie belong to my friends and acquaintances. All of the action scenes, except one, are shot directly,” said Minh.
Previously, Phan Minh produced the movie “Lay chong nguoi ta” (Marry someone else’s husband) by Luu Huynh. The movie was nominated for the People’s Choice Award in the 37th Toronto Film Festival in 2012.
“Toc do va duong cong” is produced by Vi-phim Company and will be released in Vietnam on Christmas Day, December 25, by Galaxy.
