First sky trains delivered to Hanoi
Three trains which will be used for Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway have been delivered to Hanoi.
In November, eight more trains are planned to be transported from China to Vietnam.
Vu Hong Phuong, vice director of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated train project, said it had not yet been decided when the trains would be transported by crane on the elevated railways track. To avoid traffic congestion, the trains were transported to Hanoi at night. At the moment, all the carriages are moved to railway of Depot Yen Nghia to be installed into complete trains.
On February 19, the first two locomotives and passenger trains of this project were delivered.
According to Phuong, the railway project has 12 trains, including 48 carriages. Each train with four carriages can carry 1,200 passengers.
The Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway project with 12 stations has investment of 868 million USD. As planned, until October 2017, the pilot run will be implemented. The trains will begin officially operations in the second quarter of 2018. However, many items of the project are behind schedule due to capital injection.
On September 28, the Chinese contractor ran a locomotive from Cat Linh station to Lang station to check the railway line.
According to Railway Project Administrative Board, Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport, Cat Linh – Ha Dong train is 79 meters in legth, 3.8 meters in high with maximum speed of 80km/hour.
