More than 100 girls in Ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) on stage tell the story about the charming beauty of Vietnamese women and the peaceful life of the local people.
The theatre uses the waters of Hoai River as its 25,000-sq m stage along with state-of-the-art lighting technology and sophisticated sound effects, Dao Quang Tung, representative of the show producer was quoted as saying.
It took nearly two years to produce the one-hour show which is scheduled every night and is expected to attract more than 3,000 guests per show, he added.
The show is part of a creative cultural and arts programme that aims to introduce the culture and history of historic Hoi An Town to local and international tourists. This contemporary art form, which has been successfully performed in many countries, is expected to help expand the number of night entertainment activities for tourists when they visit Hoi An.
The show is a key component of the Hoi An Impression Theme Park that will open in the second quarter of this year. The 10-hectare theme park in Hoi An includes indoor and outdoor theatres, shopping and entertainment complexes, and 200 hotel rooms.
Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site.
Hoi An welcomed 3.22 million visitors in 2017, a year-on-year increase of 21.66%. The 3.22 million visitors included 1.78 million foreigners and 1.44 million domestic visitors, according to Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
