Film Screening “Kochuu, Japanese Architecture – Influence and Origin”
Tran Mau 10:46, 2017/12/01
A film about the architectural identity of Japan and the preservation & development of that identity through generations.
Globalization has raised questions on cultural assimilation leading to the erosion of ethnic cultures. Preserving cultural identity became a much discussed topic in the world. From 2001, UNESCO has proposed the important role of cultural diversity for global development. In April 2010, United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) has declared: “Culture vibrancy is the 4th pillar of sustainable development” (aside from economic prosperity, environmental responsibility and social justice).
The film “Kochuu, Japanese architecture – Influence and Origin” by director Jesper Wachtmeister lets us see the Japanese culture through its architecture. Yet the movie is not only about the architectural identity of Japan, but also the preservation and development of that identity through generations […]. Many contemporary architects in the movie such as Tadao Ando, Kazuo Shinohara, Kisho Kurokawa and Toyo Ito will explain the method of understanding traditional culture through architectural designing.
In Hanoi, “Kochuu, Japanese Architecture – Influence and Origin” will be screened on 2 Dec,10 am at Ca phe Thu bay, 3A Ngo Quyen, Hoan Kiem. In Ho Chi Minh city, will be screened on 2 Dec, 3 pm at Ca phe thu bay Tre, 264 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ward 8, Dist 3.
