Experts share solutions to improve the quality of Vietnamese products

The forum serves as a platform to gather ideas to strengthen promotional efforts and ensure that Vietnamese goods remain consumers' reliable and preferred choice.

Experts shared insights on how to ensure a steady supply of goods to facilitate year-end and Tet shopping for Hanoi residents at the "Vietnamese Goods for the Lunar New Year 2025" forum held in Hanoi on December 13.

The event was held under the auspices of the Economic and Urban Newspaper in cooperation with the Hanoi Steering Committee for the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods" campaign.

In his opening remarks, Nguyen Thanh Loi, Editor-in-chief of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, said that this forum provides an opportunity for participants to work together on solutions to raise the reputation of Vietnamese products and better meet consumer demands.

The forum will also serve as a platform to gather actionable proposals to strengthen promotional efforts and ensure that Vietnamese goods remain a reliable and preferred choice for consumers.

The Steering Committee has tasked the Department of Industry and Trade with continuing price stabilization programs, particularly during the upcoming Tet holiday.

We will also facilitate the distribution of goods to rural and remote areas, as well as to industrial parks and export processing zones throughout the city. In addition, we will work with district and town people's committees to organize Vietnamese goods fairs and bring products to areas away from downtown.

Through various programs, we continue to raise awareness among businesses and artisan villages about their role and responsibilities in improving product quality and competitiveness. We encourage them to commit to protecting consumer rights and taking responsibility for their products, which will help strengthen brand recognition in domestic and international markets.

In addition, we are studying the retail system for selling Vietnamese goods in the context of the country's global integration and actively implementing the tasks outlined in the Domestic Market Development Plan in conjunction with the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Vietnamese Goods" campaign for 2015-2020.

The Committee will continue to promote trade and industrial development while helping businesses build and grow their brands.

We will conduct activities to link supply and demand and ensure that consumers receive information about Vietnamese products. Our goal is to identify quality goods that meet local needs.

This approach will include cooperation with manufacturers for widespread promotion, further highlighting those products that are recognized as "Vietnam's most popular goods."

We are actively taking measures to ensure the quality and supply of goods for the upcoming Tet 2025 celebrations.

The department develops plans and guides local businesses in preparing quality goods with clear origins for consumers. We will also conduct inspections to enforce regulations on promotional activities and food safety in the industrial sector.

The department has invited 22 businesses to participate in these efforts, setting up about 10,600 locations to display and sell products to consumers.

The government has identified about ten essential commodities that need to be secured for residents, including 95,000 tons of rice, 20,000 tons of pork, and 7,000 tons of poultry, based on projections of increased demand in the last few months of the year and during Tet.

The department is also working with authorities to verify the origin and quality of products to prevent counterfeiting, smuggling, and substandard goods. These efforts are critical to ensuring the food safety of items available during Tet and the 2025 Spring Festival in seven metropolitan districts.

In cooperation with various organizations, we will hold numerous events, fairs, and product presentations, including spring flower markets in districts, towns, and industrial zones.

Consumer demand for Tet is expected to increase by approximately 30% in 2025 compared to 2024. Since early October, the company has been working with suppliers to plan for a diverse product supply.

Hapro currently offers about 20 stabilized price items, including high-quality Vietnamese products such as ST25 rice - sourced from our own production area - and various packaged nuts for gift baskets.

The company also produces a range of branded products, including Hapro Dong Thap rice, Hapro roasted cashews, and a selection of sausages of smoked pork, chicken, and belly bacon. The company has also partnered with a Hanoi-based food manufacturer with over 50 years of experience in agricultural processing.

To stimulate consumer purchases during Tet, Hapro is launching promotional programs with attractive prices. The company is also committed to bringing Vietnamese products to rural and remote areas of the city in preparation for the holiday.

We maintain strict standards for the products sold in our retail system. For example, produce must be fresh and delivered to supermarkets within 8-36 hours of harvest or catch, stored in optimal conditions.

A food safety inspection team regularly checks the quality of goods, ensuring that all products have clear traceability and meet safety standards before reaching consumers. We also work with the city's inter-agency food safety inspection teams for routine and unannounced inspections of supermarket operations.
