European – Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival to be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City
The 9th European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from June 8 - 17.
Organised by the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC), embassies of the EU member states, and the National Documentary and Scientific Film Studio (NDSFS), the event providing a platform for documentary lovers to meet and discuss filmmaking skills while enjoying a variety of films from different cultures.
This year’s film festival will screen 11 international films and 15 Vietnamese films. The international films include productions from France, Wallonia-Brussels (Belgium), Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Czech, the UK, and Israel. The films have won prestigious awards in Munich, Nyon, California, Prague, and Melbourne.
The selection of Vietnamese documentaries have also won prizes, such as the Golden Lotus, Golden Kite, and Environmental Film Award.
The films focus on major cultural and social issues in contemporary life such as the family, disasters, migration and the lives of immigrants, urban planning, traffic, and the preservation of traditional products.
Earlier, “European Village” cultural program officially opened at the Ly Thai To Statue Square on May 4 for the first time, as a part of the Europe Days 2018 activities held by the Delegation of the European Union, Embassies of the EU Member States and the European Cultural Institutes.
Taking place in 3 days from May 4 – 6, the 2018 “Europe Days" in Vietnam, highlighted by the “Europe Village” program, has brought a "miniature Europe" to the center of the capital with 30 rich events, from music concerts, sports, cultural performances, fashion, to creative games for children and interesting interactive learning activities.
Specific cultural and artistic shows include Flamenco Guitar shows (Spain), jazz performances by Dutch artists Saskia Laroo and Warren Byrd or the stunt stitlwalking performance by nearly 50 members of the "De Steltenlopers" group from Belgium...
