EU supports HCM City to become Southeast Asian centre
The European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) has pledged to support Ho Chi Minh City to become one of the leading Southeast Asian cities.
Chairman of EuroCham Michael Behrens made the commitment while meeting with Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang on August 15, according to Sai Gon Giai phong newspaper.
EuroCham is accelerating the signing of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EU is sparing no effort to support the development of the city, Behrens said.
EuroCham delegates showed interest in various fields such as administrative reform, green energy development, trade promotion, transport infrastructure construction, environmental protection, human resources enhancement, and smart city building.
The local official hailed the role of EuroCham in connecting Vietnamese and European businesses and investors, and thanked the chamber for assisting HCM City .
He confirmed that authorities will create the best investment environment for both domestic and foreign companies, adding that the city is implementing the Government’s Resolution No. 19 to improve the business climate and competitiveness.
HCM City is also focusing on seven breakthrough programmes, including the building of high-quality human resources, he said.
He informed the guests about administrative reform in the city, which has improved thanks to the use of e-customs, reducing time for customs clearance.
