Enhancing Vietnam-Japan educational cooperation
On June 7, while receiving Special Advisor to the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarian Alliance Tsutomo Takabe in Hanoi, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will facilitate the operation and development of the Viet Nam-Japan University, which will be open in September, 2016.

PM Phuc said Vietnam treasures the strategic partnership with Japan and that he believed bilateral ties will continue to flourish and grow in the time ahead. He praised Mr Takebe’s efforts to organize the Japan-Vietnam Festival in Vietnam, which helps to strengthen exchanges and deepen mutual understanding between the two nations.
The PM thanked efforts of Mr. Tsutomu Takebe in enhancing Viet Nam-Japan relations in all areas, including economics, human resource training and people-to-people exchange. He hailed the organization of the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Festival in Viet Nam, regarding it as a meaningful activity to strengthen knowledge and relations between the two sides.
He hailed the continuous efforts made by Takebe towards the two nations’ relationship in various fields, especially trade cooperation and human resources training. He also spoke highly of the Japan-Vietnam Cultural Festival, which is being prepared in Vietnam, adding that the event will further promote the understanding of the two peoples.
Praising the establishment of the Vietnam-Japan University in Vietnam and Takebe’s contributions to the initiative, he affirmed that Vietnam will create favourable conditions for the university to start operating this September.
PM Phuc expected that Japan will continue its assistance for Viet Nam to cope with climate change and provide Official Development Assistance (ODA) for Viet Nam to overcome consequences of droughts and sea-water intrusion in the Mekong Delta.
For his part, Mr Takebe pledged to contribute to exchanges at all levels and agricultural cooperation between the two countries. Concerning the Vietnam-Japan University, he said he hopes it will become a symbol of the two countries’ determination to boost cooperation in education.
Mr. Tsutomu Takebe affirmed that he will do his utmost to promote the multi-faced relations between Viet Nam and Japan to make contribution to the international and regional peace, stability, development and prosperity. The Japanese side is making efforts in successfully organizing the Viet Nam-Japan Cultural Festival and launching a number of activities to operate the Viet Nam-Japan University.
He also announced that Japan inked an agreement with Viet Nam to receive more Vietnamese interns to Japan to study agriculture, expressing his desire to contribute to the development of Viet Nam’s agricultural sector. Takebe informed the PM about upcoming visits of some Japanese co-operatives to Vietnam next month to interview their potential trainees for farming techniques, management and business.
