English literature featured in Hanoi exhibition

Vietnamese artists have created an exhibition based on British author Lewis Carroll's story "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".
The exhibition "Becoming Alice: Through the Metal Tunnel" is on display at The Outpost Art Organization, Roman Plaza, Hanoi, until March 3.
The exhibition could help audiences rethink how they deal with grueling situations by learning from Alice's open-minded and childlike sense of curiosity.

Featuring artworks by 13 Vietnamese artists, including Tran Van Thao, Do Hoang Tuong, and Duong Thuy Duong, among others, the exhibition is inspired by the magic of imagination cast by English author Lewis Carroll in his famous literary work - "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland".

According to the organizer, the exhibition invites visitors to be curious and playful as soon as they enter the exhibition space. The story is widely understood as the transition from the innocence of youth to the confusing and (perhaps) fascinating world of adulthood through a variety of strange yet intriguing encounters, themes and anthropomorphic animals.

As well as being unique in its nature and development, the curatorial approach to this exhibition reflects Alice's desire to explore. As documentation of all the works (the multi-layered social context in which they were created, the processes by which they were conceptualized and their relevant records) is not abundant, the curatorial team has chosen to embrace their unknown chronicles.

"Becoming Alice: Through the Metal Tunnel" is the second exhibition showcasing artworks from the Outpost Collection. It offers visitors a different kind of landscape, perhaps more lyrical and desolate in its ambiance.
