Friends of Vietnam Heritage (FVH) will host the English-speaking walking tour for international visitors to explore the Ba Dinh area and the “French Colonial Quarter” on April 20.

The tour gives an overview of the changes to Hanoi that started in the French period (1869-1954). The tour will touch on the development of the education system, town planning and architecture and other aspects of past and present Hanoi, according to FVH’s representative.
This English-speaking walking tour will starting at Chu Van An School. Tourists will make their way to Hanoi’s iconic Ba Dinh Square and focus on a few of the Government buildings in the area, including the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam – formerly the Lycee Albert Sarrault High School, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Then along Chua Mot Cot street and strolling the surrounding avenues passing former villas now home to embassies, the walk will take tourists to Dien Bien Phu street and Hoang Dieu street before ending the tour at Cua Bac (The North Gate) and Cua Bac Church on Phan Dinh Phung street. Those who would like to stay for lunch after will be taken to nearby Ngu Xa Island for some Pho Cuon.
The tours costs VND70,000 (US$3), excludes refreshments and lunch if guest decide to stay on for a bite to eat with a limit of 12 people. The tour will start at 9.30 am and finish about noon.
More than 1 million international tourist arrived to Hanoi in the first two months of 2018, increasing by 31% compared to 2017, the capital of Vietnam earned over VND13.2 trillion (US$583 million), increasing 12% from last year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.
Most visitors flocked to the city’s popular attractions, like Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Huong Son landscape complex (also known as the Huong Pagoda), Ngoc Son Temple in the heart of Hoan Kiem Lake, Van Mieu (the Temple of Literature) and Quoc Tu Giam (the first university in Vietnam).
Hanoi expects to welcome 5.5 million foreigners among over 25.4 million tourists in 2018. Hanoi is increasing communications campaigns and tourism development cooperation abroad to reach the goal, Director of the Municipal Department of Tourism Tran Duc Hai was quoted as saying.
