After the controversy on the time for adult movies on national television, VTV began airing the US series "Sex and the City" at 11pm on November 10.
I
Iearly November, the public was stirred up by VTV’s decision to air movies on “sensitive topics” such as love and sex on VTV2 (science and education channel) as a way to promote sex education to the youth.
Domestic filmmakers warmly supported the decision, adding that it is the right time to have specific hours for adult movies on national TV channels. However, some people did not agree, saying that this would have a negative impact on youth.
VTV decided to postpone the airing time of the first film for adults – Sex and the City - from November 10 to November 17 to have more time to collect public opinion.
However, the national TV resumed its initial plan to air the film on November 10.
"Sex and the City" is the most watched TV series of all time on the subject of love, sexuality and the top concerns of women. To be suitable to Vietnamese tradition and culture, some “hot scenes” in the series will be cut.
In addition to movies with "sensitive topics", VTV2 will also organize talk shows with renowned artists about the issues related to each episode of "Sex and the City".
In episode 1 aired on November 1, actress and businesswoman Truong Ngoc Anh joined the talk show with the theme "What do women want". In episode 2 aired on November 11, model Trang Tran talked about the topic "What men want" and in episode 3 tonight, singer Truong Quynh Anh will talk about the topic “When a child is born”.
Sex and the City is about four female friends: Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York Goldenblatt (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), dealing with their lives as single women in New York City. The TV series often portrayed frank discussions about romance and sexuality.
The world film premiere took place at Leicester Square, London, on May 15, 2008, and premiered on May 28, 2008, in the United Kingdom and May 30, 2008, in the United States. A sequel to the film, entitled Sex and the City 2, was released in 2010.
