Da Nang expects surge in tourists during upcoming holiday
The figure of expected tourist arrivals to Da Nang during the National Day represents a year-on-year increase of 10.4%.
The number of tourist arrivals to Da Nang city is estimated to hit 158,000 during the National Day (September 2) holiday, up 10.4% year-on-year, according to the Da Nang Department of Tourism.
Of the number, there will be around 48,700 foreign visitors, up 12.1% year-on-year, and 109,000 domestic tourists, rising 9.5%.
For this year’s National Day occasion, the number of visitors booking tours to Da Nang through travel companies is estimated at 7,145, up 18.4% from the same period last year. Of the total, the number of foreign visitors booking tours to Da Nang through travel companies is estimated at 3,950, up 23.4% year-on-year.
About 25,520 visitors are set to fly to the city on 143 flights, rising 80.9% compared to the same period last year.
The city’s tourist destinations are likely to welcome more than 111,200 visitors during the weekend holiday, including 29,570 international and 81,662 domestic tourists.
Da Nang, one of well-known tourism cities, in Vietnam has recently become more and more popular to foreign travelers.
Da Nang is the most popular summer vacation destination of tourists from South Korea in 2018, a shift from last year’s preference for Japanese cities. South Korea media quoted e-commerce website Ticket Monster (TMON) as saying that flight ticket sales in the July - August period showed Da Nang as the top foreign travel location.
Travel in the city is relatively cheap, about US$90.3 per day, and is a manageable distance from South Korea, about four and a half hours by flight. TMON said its sales data shows a growing preference for places that offer hotel, resort, shopping and tourism activities altogether.
